The DeepHorizon consortium will meet in person at the University of Bern (Switzerland) from 28th – 30th of January 2026.

This gathering will be a valuable opportunity for all project partners to reconnect, share progress, and plan the next steps together.

Over three days, participants will take part in discussions about ongoing and upcoming activities, explore project case studies, and visit one of the living lab areas near Bern.

The meeting will also include moments to strengthen collaboration — such as a group dinner and a short cultural visit to discover the city’s atmosphere.

Public transport in Switzerland is well established and very much recommended. The official website for public transportation is: https://www.sbb.ch/en 

The main international train connections to Bern typically route through Zurich, Basel, or Geneva. These three cities are well connected to the European rail network. The travel durations from these larger cities are

  • Basel – Bern: 1h
  • Zurich – Bern: 1h
  • Geneva – Bern: 1h50min

Booking Tip: We highly recommend early booking to secure cheaper saver tickets. It is also worth checking for similar saver options offered by other national public transport services (e.g., SNCF, Deutsche Bahn, ÖBB, …).

Bern does not have an international airport. Therefore, the easiest way to arrive is to take the plane to the international airports of Zurich, Geneva, or Basel.


There are direct train connections from Zurich and Geneva airports to Bern. Travel from Basel airport requires one transfer. The travel durations from these airports to Bern are:

  • Zurich airport – Bern: 1h15min
  • Geneva airport – Bern: 2h
  • Basel airport – Bern: 1h30min (1 transfer in Basel SBB)
