She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Farm Management and an MSc in Agricultural Economics. Aikaterini’s research ambitiously addresses key areas such as Sustainable Agriculture, Precision Farming, Bio-economics, Agri-food Management, Natural Resources, and Climate Change. She is highly active in the academic community, with numerous publications in prestigious scientific journals and consistent participation in international scientific conferences. Her efforts are instrumental in pushing the boundaries of traditional agricultural practices towards more sustainable and efficient methodologies.

Contribution in the project

Data Collection on Subsoils: AUTH will gather existing data regarding subsoils across diverse management practices, soil types, land uses, and climatic conditions.
Subsoil Sampling and Experiments: The university will lead efforts in extensive subsoil sampling at 40 core sites to analyze biological, physical, and chemical properties.
Model Development: AUTH will employ innovative process-based models to assess actual and potential subsoil functioning and develop soil health indicators.
Stakeholder Engagement: The university will engage with practitioners and stakeholders through living labs and partner networks to co-create and deploy innovative solutions for subsoil function improvement across 100 test sites in Europe.
Community Building: AUTH will work towards building a community of end-users and stakeholders to promote sustainable management practices and policy incentives.
Knowledge Dissemination: The university will actively participate in disseminating knowledge and communicating the importance of subsoils to the general public, aiming to enhance soil health awareness.
Capacity Building: AUTH will contribute to educational and training activities designed to transfer knowledge and skills related to subsoil management and its significance in sustaining healthy ecosystems.
